Kirkridge Retreat Center
The Math Science Partnership of Greater Philadelphia (MSPGP), in
collaboration with Project Kaleidoscope (PKAL), a national leader in
math and science reform at the collegiate level, invites secondary and
college math and science faculty interested in developing their
leadership skills to participate in a Leadership Development Program.
Here leadership is broadly construed to include both formal and
informal leadership.
The MSPGP-PKAL Leadership Program will build leadership capacity within the ranks of secondary and post-secondary educators,
in a way that encourages both intra- and inter-institutional collaboration, so that improved achievement by math and science students in grades
6-12 can be achieved and sustained.
The linchpin of the program is a 5-day overnight Leadership Institute
to be held at the Kirkridge Retreat Center in Bangor, PA from Monday,
July 31 through Friday, August 4, 2006.
Due to its intensive nature, this program will be limited to 15
participants. Selection will be based on participants’ potential to
positively impact math and science education at their institution and
in the Greater Philadelphia region as well as on insuring that a range
of school districts and institutions of higher education (IHEs) are
represented.
Complete information about the Leadership Program is contained in the Leadership Flier (click here for a PDF copy).
The application for the Leadership Program consists of two parts: an individual application (click here)
and an Institutional Support Form (click here).
Note: the application forms are in PDF files that can be typed on and then either printed out or e-mailed back to the MSPGP. The unaltered
PDF files can be saved but you cannot save any information you type onto the file.
The deadline for applications has been extended to Monday, May 1, 2006.
