Everything Presenters Should Know
- Remember the goal
The goal is to talk with high school students about your experiences in math, science or secondary math/science education!
- Bring some type of manipulative with you
Bring some type of display, poster presentation, or manipulatives that can be contained on a table. Bring your math/science text books, an
example of a graded homework assignment, lab notebook, or lecture notes. High School students want and need to see these thing.
This serves merely as an icebreaker - a context for conversing.
A display also lets people know that you are a presenters and can be approached for conversation. Your Display or poster need only reflect your experience,
they can be as formal or informal as you are comfortable with being.
- We'll supply a table and a chair and a $30 honorarium
Unless you make special arrangements with the organzers - we will supply each presenter with only a table on which to put their display and
a chair. We are happy to help you if you have any special arrangements or have any special needs, please contact Diana Campbell.
We will also pay you a modest honorarium for your time and efforts. In order to be payed you must complete a brief survey and a one page
invoice.
- What to expect
First, dinner is served to those presenters who come early. Here you will have the chance to meet bright math and science students from colleges around the Philadelphia area.
School student, parents and faculty will start viewing your displays at 6:00pm. And that's it! It's an easy and rewarding
way to be of service to your community and an ambassador of your discipline. We hope you'll join us, space is limited, registration is required.
